Park Avenue Double Hung Window
The Park Avenue Double Hung windows are probably the finest engineered and energy efficient window in the market. These Vinyl Windows have insulation in both the frames and the sashes. They fill the cavity of the hollow frame vinyl windows with Dow blue insulation. This type of foam is extruded polystyrene, which gives it a higher r-value or energy rating than the liquid Styrofoam that is used in some of their competitors. It actually adheres more to the interior of the cavities and doesn’t expand the frames, which could be damaging. The r-values can approach r-15 with this type of insulation. This is extremely high and probably one of the highest on the market.
This double hung window also contains a power bar or fiberglass reinforcement in the upper sash rail of the window. This prevents any bowing or "smiling" of the window sash, which can happen in inferior windows that exclude this important feature. The fiberglass is the right material to use for this reinforcement because it will not conduct the cold like the aluminum method that some other manufacturers use. This is the only window to use this type of structure in the industry.
The locking system is fantastic in the Park Avenue Window. It consists of two low profile cam locks that fully engage into the steel keeper. It also has deep interlock for extra security located on the midair where the sashes meet. This is added security and reduces air infiltration. Overall the windows have the best energy and security performance on the market.
